What Fragrance Box Is

Getting Started 4 min read Updated July 14, 2026

Most people meet fragrance one bottle at a time, committing to a full purchase before they know whether a scent is really theirs. Fragrance Box was built for a slower, more curious way in. It is a curated fragrance discovery experience, a home for niche and luxury perfume where you get to live with a scent day by day rather than gamble on it once.

The idea in one box

A Fragrance Box holds 30 fragrances, one for each day, drawn from a rotating collection of designer and niche scents. Instead of one large purchase, you get a month of genuine wear, which is the only honest way to learn how a fragrance behaves on your skin through its opening, its heart, and its drydown.

Every scent in the collection is authentic and full strength. Nothing is diluted and nothing is imitated. The point is not novelty for its own sake, it is discovery with real bottles, so you can find the scents worth keeping and quietly retire the ones that are not for you.

You can buy a box as a one time purchase or as a monthly subscription. Whichever you choose, the box is built from the live collection, which is also the homepage: the collection is the site itself, so there is no separate catalog to hunt for.

The two tiers we carry

Fragrance Box sells two concentrations only, Eau de Parfum (EDP) and Extrait de Parfum (Extrait). Extrait is the highest, most concentrated tier we offer.

  • EDP, Eau de Parfum. Rich, balanced, and long lasting. The most versatile concentration and the standard tier.
  • Extrait, Extrait de Parfum. The richest, longest lasting concentration, usually worn in a lighter hand, and the top of our shelf.

An Extrait box is a curated mix of Extrait and EDP, rounded out with EDP so every box stays full at 30 fragrances. An EDP box holds EDP only. Whether the Extrait tier costs more is a pricing matter that varies, see the live pages at /order and /pre-order. For a fuller comparison of the two, read EDP and Extrait, the Two Tiers We Carry.

More than a box

Alongside the box, Fragrance Box runs a small set of services for people who take their fragrance seriously.

  • Sell lets you submit a bottle you own for cash, through a short intake wizard. Any quote or payout varies per bottle and is shown on your private status page.
  • Authenticate reviews a fragrance under controlled conditions and returns it with a permanent verification code. The verification fee varies, see the live page.
  • Verify is a free, public lookup: anyone holding a printed code can confirm it without an account. A batch code, worth saying plainly, is never proof of authenticity on its own; real assurance comes from sourcing and verification.
  • Pre-order reserves a spot in the first launch batch. Reserving is not a charge and not a commitment, and it can be cancelled any time before payment.

If you want the fuller picture of what sits on our shelves and where the houses come from, What We Carry walks through the collection.

A note on substitutions

Because the collection rotates, a specific scent can become unavailable. When that happens you are asked to choose a like for like replacement, and if you do not choose within a short window, a comparable alternative in the same character is assigned so your box still ships complete. Fragrance Box never promises an exact bottle, only a comparable one when a swap is needed. That honesty is the point: we would rather tell you the truth about a substitution than pretend nothing changed.

Where to go next

If you are ready to look around, start with the collection, which is the whole catalog on one page. When a scent catches you, its product page lists the house, the tier, the launch year, and the note journey top to base. When you want to begin a box, the wizard at /order walks you through concentration, audience, size, and plan, with every price shown live.
