Selling Through Fragrance Box

Selling, Authentication and Pre-Orders 4 min read Updated July 14, 2026

You have a bottle you no longer reach for, and you would rather it found a home than gathered dust in a drawer. Fragrance Box buys fragrances directly, so you can turn a bottle you have moved on from into cash. Everything happens through one guided flow at /sell, and this article walks you through it from first click to payout.

Before you start

Selling requires a signed-in account, so the first step is to sign in if you have not already. Once you are in, /sell opens a short submission wizard. Gather a few things ahead of time and the whole process moves faster.

  • Bottle facts. The brand, the fragrance name, the concentration (Fragrance Box works in EDP and Extrait de Parfum), the size, and roughly how full the bottle is.
  • Provenance. The year if you know it, whether you still have the box, the papers, or a receipt, and the batch code printed on the bottle. A batch code helps us place a bottle, but keep in mind it is not proof of authenticity on its own.
  • Photos. Clear, well-lit images of the bottle, the cap, the label, and the batch code. Good photos are the single biggest thing you can do to help us quote you quickly and fairly.
  • Your asking offer. What you would like to receive. This is a starting point for the conversation, not a fixed demand.

For more on which bottles suit the marketplace and how condition plays in, read What You Can Submit to Sell.

How the submission works

Once you complete the wizard, your submission enters review. Fragrance Box looks at the details and comes back with an offer or a counter offer to your asking price. If the number works for you, you accept, ship the bottle in, and you are paid once it arrives and has been checked in person. Nothing is final until we have the bottle in hand and have confirmed it matches what you described.

There are two ways to send a bottle. You can ship the full bottle, or you can send a vial first. A vial route lets us assess before the full bottle travels, which some sellers prefer for pricier pieces.

Your submission moves through a clear sequence of stages, and you can follow it the whole way:

  1. Draft, while you are still filling in the wizard.
  2. Pending, once you submit and we begin our review.
  3. Quoted, when we send you an offer or counter offer.
  4. Accepted, once you agree to the number.
  5. Shipped, after you send the bottle in.
  6. Received, when it arrives and we check it.
  7. Paid, once the payout is released.

A submission can also be declined if it is not a fit, or withdrawn if you decide not to go ahead. You are never locked in before you accept an offer.

What you will be paid

Every bottle is different, so quote and payout amounts vary by submission. We do not publish a figure here, because the fair number for your specific bottle depends on the fragrance, the tier, the size, how full it is, and its condition. Your live offer always shows on your submission, which is the one place the real number lives. For a fuller picture of how we arrive at a figure, see How Trade Value Works.

Following your submission

After you submit, you do not have to wonder where things stand. Each submission has its own private status view, and every stage above is reflected there as it happens. To learn exactly where to look and what each status means for you, read Checking a Sell Submission's Status.

If your real question is whether a bottle you already own is genuine rather than something you want to sell, that is a different service. Our Authentication Service reviews a bottle for legitimacy at /authenticate, and you can look up an existing Verified by Fragrance Box code anytime at /verify.

When you are ready, start your submission at /sell. If anything is unclear along the way, we are glad to help at [email protected].
